It all begins with an idea.
Lessons were learned today. Deposits. I am requiring deposits for everyone and their mothers going forward, no excuses, no exemptions, no ma’am. I could have been hurt today, and unfortunately for me hindsight is 20/20. Welcome to my first vlog post.
I flew to Houston and back this week under the guise that I was filming for a retirement party. Equipment was purchased, deposits were discussed, bags were packed, but something was off. The deposit my alleged client sent me was conveniently “lost” in the mail…the day before my flight takes off? Okay.
The second I walked into the venue my gut wrenching feeling was validated. There was no party, and there never was going to be a deposit. Someone is impersonating a client. Someone I know. Because of course it is.
What a creep. Despite this weird attempt to…I don’t even know what, I have never been more thankful. My assistant and I bonded, I got to say my goodbyes to my family in Houston, and a few of my videos went viral.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
